Common Questions

Why should I see an orthodontist?

While some general and pediatric dentists offer orthodontic care, orthodontists are specialists in the field of orthodontia. Unlike general and pediatric dentists, orthodontists must successfully complete a two-to-three year course of study in orthodontics at an accredited orthodontic residency program after they graduate from dental school.

This extra education qualifies them as specialists in orthodontics and dentofacial orthopedics. As specialists, orthodontists limit their scope of practice to orthodontics only. Orthodontists are uniquely qualified, by virtue of education and scope of practice, as experts who have the skills and experience to give you or your child a healthy and beautiful smile.

Do I need braces?

Everyone can benefit from having properly aligned teeth. Besides aesthetics, it can help lower your risk of cavities and gum disease. Untreated orthodontic problems may lead to tooth decay, tooth loss, bone loss, and gum disease.

Am I too old to get braces?

No, you can get braces at any age. Don’t let your age stop you from getting your dream smile! Teeth can be moved at any age, but due to denser bone tissue in adults, treatment time may be slightly longer than in children or adolescents. Rest assured, it is not too late to get orthodontic treatment and all the benefits that come with it.

What treatment options do you offer?

We offer a variety of treatment options to suit different lifestyles and help you accomplish your smile goals. Our options include:

  • Traditional Metal Braces
  • Ceramic, or Clear, Braces
  • Lingual Braces
  • Clear Aligners, e.g. Invisalign, Spark, ClearCorrect
  • Children’s orthodontics, such as two phase treatment
  • Additional appliances like palatal expanders, space maintainers, retainers, etc.
Does insurance cover orthodontic treatment?

Coverage varies based on each individual plan. Some plans cover both adult and children’s orthodontics with no age restrictions. While other plans may only cover orthodontics within a certain age limit. If you need help checking if your plan has orthodontic coverage, please contact us with your insurance information.

Can I use FSA or HSA to pay for my treatment?

Yes! You can certainly use your FSA/HSA benefits to cover your orthodontic treatment. You may be required to provide a copy of the contract or additional information to your FSA/HSA provider, but rest assured, our experienced patient care coordinators will be able to help get you set up.
